Materia at Hotel MAD50: when a collection shapes a space
Materia, Transformad’s collection of technical surfaces, was born from a clear premise: colour and finish can create atmosphere, not only complement it. Developed using Electron Beam Curing technology, it combines an ultra-matte finish with remarkable visual depth, an organic and silky touch, anti-fingerprint properties and thermal self-healing capabilities. Its palette of fourteen shades, designed by interior designer Sara Folch, was conceived as a coherent chromatic narrative. This hotel project illustrates that vision clearly: a space where Materia is not used as an occasional feature, but as the common thread running through the entire design proposal.

The lobby: a statement of intent
The journey begins in the lobby, where a sculpture featuring all the shades of the collection introduces the chromatic dialogue that unfolds throughout the project. The reception desk combines Oporto and Salvia in a sequence that welcomes guests with authority and warmth, while decorative panels in Serena and illuminated panels in Cacao introduce an almost theatrical dimension: under artificial lighting, the ultra-matte finish does not fade away; it transforms.
In the busiest areas, the palette unfolds naturally: Cacao in the wall panelling, Oporto and Siena on the shelving units, and Oliva on the coffee tables. The versatility of Materia — suitable for both vertical and horizontal applications — allows the same material to flow across different surfaces without losing coherence. In the glazed area, where natural light enters more generously, Siena and Oliva engage in dialogue with the outdoors without competing with it. Visitors perceive the ensemble intuitively, thanks to the harmonised and carefully constructed palette.

The fireplace area: intimacy as a design statement
Set apart from the main circulation flow, the fireplace area offers the project’s serene counterpoint. Wall claddings in Bruma and Oporto coexist with a suspended ceiling clad in Alba, visually elevating the space, while a door finished in Tmatt Legno Fumé introduces an organic touch to the room. The Taupe coffee table anchors the composition with restrained warmth.
It is a space that invites guests to slow down. The ultra-matte finish captures light without reflecting it, and in this gesture — as discreet as it is effective — it creates the atmosphere of intimacy the space calls for. The velvety texture acts almost like temperature: it conveys density and quality before the user can even articulate why.

One collection, one project, one conversation
Hotel MAD50 does not use Materia as a decorative feature; it uses it as a language. And it is precisely in this sustained use throughout the space that we find perhaps the best demonstration of what the collection can offer: not only immediate beauty, but also the ability to create atmosphere, maintain it over time and adapt to very different emotional registers without ever losing its identity.
